Do I sign up at stripe.com first?
No. Start from Lodge Dashboard.
- Set up Stripe creates the account and connects it in one go.
- An account opened separately on stripe.com isn't connected to Lodge Dashboard and can't be linked to it.
Lodge payments
How the account is created, what connecting it means, and how to change it later.
How it works
An Admin or Secretary presses it on Settings › Payments.
Lodge Dashboard creates the lodge's own Stripe account and connects it straight away, as a UK unincorporated non-profit.
You sign in or create a Stripe login, then give Stripe the lodge's details on Stripe's own pages.
You return to Settings › Payments. When the card says Ready, the lodge can take payments.
Before you press it
No. Start from Lodge Dashboard.
It can't be linked at present.
You can use it. The lodge still gets its own account.

Our note: Use an address you'll keep, and invite your successor before you stand down.
Stripe: User roles
What connected means
Owns the account.
Stripe: Stripe Services Agreement
Starts payments on the lodge's account and records them.
Stripe: What a connected platform can do

Stripe: Stripe-hosted onboarding

Disconnecting a working account
Our note: On GoCardless today? Leave it connected. The lodge keeps using it until Stripe is ready, and running plans keep collecting.
Stripe: Removing a connected account · Disconnecting a platform
Everything here comes from Stripe's documentation, read on 3 November 2026, except where it says Our note or describes Lodge Dashboard itself. Stripe makes the final decision and can ask for more.
